Big Uncle Willy’s
Rare Old Fortified

$80.00

In the sixties and seventies my Mum’s family worked a vineyard an hour’s drive from their Barossa vineyards down at Greenways, on the mighty Murray River. My Poppa (D.V. Hage) and my Big Uncle Willy made the original batch of Tawny from these vines back in ’74. As it got thicker and stickier over the years, they affectionately referred to it as ‘Diff Oil.’ From time to time we blend a small percentage of that rare old nectar with a cask or two of our Barossa Tawny and bottle it at the family’s own Rusden Winery.

Tasting Notes

This 20-Year-Old Tawny is a rich, mature wine showing deep tawny colour with complex Christmas pudding & rancio characters on the nose. The palate shows dried fruit, toffee & praline with a nutty, rancio style finish.
